Good Deeds Make Happy Faces

On Monday whilst I was digging my car out from the snow I notice an elderly lady weaving her way down the street. As usual, whilst the roads were relatively clear the paths were a dangerous mix of snow and ice.

She carefully moved from path to road, walking stick in hand, as she tried to find the safest route and then from road to path as a car inevitably demand use of the road.

Our road is terribly steep towards the end so with the car de-iced and RoRo belted up in the back I set off   after her, let the window down and asked if she would like a lift.

The delight and relief was etched all over her face as she got into the car and gushed thanks in my direction. She was heading into town so I said I would drop her in the centre. Only a few minutes drive for me. She asked if I was going in this direction.

"No", I laughed. "I'm going in the other direction, but it's not far for me to take you."

As she got out she smiled and said she was touched by my kindness and it would lift her spirits for the rest of the day.

It also lifted mine.

  1. What a lovely thing to do. I was thinking the other day that I need to do more good deeds. It makes you feel so good to know that you have helped someone.
