Over Christmas we played with the girls new Headbanz game when their friends came round for a play date.
Having played a couple of dummy rounds where we could see the cards and talk about the kind of questions you could ask we moved onto the game proper.
RaRa nailed it, asking question after question in rapid succession to work out that she was a cow just as the sand ran out.
Friend no.1 was slower and more thoughtful taking longer than the timer but eventually working out that she was a bat.
Friend no.2 decided after much encouragement decided that she would rather watch.
And then it was my turn ...
Me: "Am I something you eat?"
RaRa (shrieks excitedly): "Oh yes!" ... her friends backing her up with eager nods.
Me: "Do you have to cook it?"
RaRa: (serious expression): "Yes".
Me: "Do you cook it in a saucepan?"
RaRa (pulling face, friends look blank): "Noooo".
Me: "Is it a pizza?"
RaRa (big sly smile): "No"
Me: "A cake. A Pie?"
RaRa & Friends: "No, no, no!"
Errr ...
Me: "Roast Chicken"
RaRa: "NO!"
I am feeling under pressure. This is not going well and the sand is running out!
Me (smiling smugly): "Aha ... A hot drink?"
RaRa (friends beaming): "No"
Me: "Is it round?"
RaRa & Friends: "Ish ..."
Me (sighing and hesitant): "A jacket potato?"
Kid Chorus: 'Nooooooooo!'
The sand runs out. "YOU LOOOOOOOSE! YOU LOOOOOOOSE!" They giggle and shout.
With drooped shoulders and a sigh I take down my card.
I am a snail ... a snail?!!!
Me: "That's not food!"
Aneira: "Yes it is! Yes it is ... Daddy eats them. 'He cooks them in the oven!"
That made me chuckle - mostly at the idea of 3 girls against one adult! Lot's of fodder there I'd say :)
