If your looking for a family festival that pulls together art, crafts, music and literature in one magical weekend then the multi award winning Just So Festival could be just what your looking for.
Set in amongst the beautiful woodland clearings, rolling parkland, arboreal landscapes and lakeside spots in the Rhode Hall Estate, Cheshire, this small (5000 people) family friendly festival is all about creativity. Over the weekend families get to enjoy range of musical, theatrical, and visual performances,
In fact it is the only combined arts festival dedicated solely to families in the UK and in a couple of weeks (19th -21st Aug) we’re of to experience all it’s creative magic. The theme for 2016 is intrigue and trickery with the festival program promising Codes & Ciphers, Detectives & Disguises plus Mysteries & Mayhem … we’re just a bit excited
I wish we didn’t live quite so far away as I’d love to join in with the Just So Bake Off. Cake doesn’t travel to well in a jam packed festival laden car!
Still there are plenty of other activities that have caught our eye like the Ukulele Workshop, the Circus Workshop, the Song Writing Workshop and the French CanCan Workshop (I knew buying the girls frilly tulle petticoat skirts would come in handy!).
Then there’s the Outdoor Cinema, Boating on a Lake, Lantern Parade and Saw Playing (yes we’re talking about that bendy pice of metal!). Oh, and the Children Literature and Story Telling program is amazing.
It’s in association with The Guardians Childrens Booksite and gives families the opportunity to meet some of the UK’s favourite children’s authors who will be sharing some of the best new stories. This year Authors include the likes of Paul Stickland, Tamsin Murray, Jo Coterill, Nadine Caadan, James Campbell, to name but a few . And this is just the tip of the festival-burg.
There’s just so much to see and do…
Did I mention the story telling midnight feast, star gazing, sports day, pillow fights and bubbles!?
The weekend really is a jam packed with creative fun and I’m sure we will come back full of enthusiasm and wonderful memories including joining in with the infamous Tribal Tournament. It looks like we’re going to be dividing and conquering but who’s going to be on the winning tribes team?
