Rockfords Rock Opera is an amazing Ecological Story set to music which incorporates pop, rock and classical.
The story revolves around a boy Moog and his dog Rockford who live in Battersea, North London.
When Rockford accidentally gets a Cocklebur Ick stuck to him (whilst going to the loo) he finds himself being transported to the Island of Infinity. A mysterious island that is home to the very last animal and plant from all extinct species. Finding that Rockford has disappeared Moog searches for him and finds himself transported to to the island when he discovers a moth in a strange boat. The two of them set off on a magical adventure with the aid of some new friends to try and prevent the extinction of the human race and deliver a very important message back home to everyone!
Rockfords Rock Opera was primarily aimed at 6-12 year olds and the CD (I was sent one to listen to) is definitely a little old in places for young children. Part 1 is a little slow to get going as it sets the scene and introduces you to all the key players in the story. Part 2 gains pace though and is full of adventure and thrills which continues through Parts 3 & 4.
The App (we were given free access to all 4 parts) delivers the story with a totally different feel and gives children a great visual aid to help the story along. It uses a mixture of still pictures and animation to guide you through and is thoughtfully divided into chapters which makes it a great bedtime treat as well as making it very easy to navigate through.
My girls really enjoyed it and although prefer to watch it on my iPad are more than content to listen to it in the car. Infact having the CD and the App is a good combination as the App images have given them a better understanding of the story.
