My girls love watching The Smurfs on tv so when we were asked to go to a special launch event in collaboration with Jackks Pacific Toys new to celebrate their new smurf toys, it was hard to say no.
We arrived early one Sunday morning at the Odeon Cinema to be enthusiastically greeted by some unusually large Smurfs who made sure everyone had eaten enough smurfberries for breakfast before being allowed in to watch The Smurfs2.
This time the evil Gargamel is working in Paris as an acclaimed magician/illusionist. He has created a couple of smurf like creatures (The Naughties) that he want to use to harness the ‘magical’ smurf essence. He can only do that if he can get a secret spell from Smurfette that will change The Naughties into real Smurfs. Using The Naughties he he kidnap Smurfette in order to gain the spell. Can Papa Smurf, Clumsy, Grouchy and Vanity rescue Smurfette (with help from their human friends) before she tells all??
The Smurfs2 is an easy to watch family film and all of us (including Mr Dad!) really enjoyed it. The sweet shop scene was a particular favourite with my girls.
After the film the girls had fun learning about potions, met Smurfette and managed to find some lost smurfs in a fun Treasure hunt.
Jakks Pacific have launched a collection of figures, play sets and fashion dolls to celebrate the release of the Smurfs2 that can be purchased in many high street stores.
There are some cute 2.75″ figures that can be collected separately that include Grouchy, Clumsy, Papa Smurf, Smurfette and the two new Naughties (Vexus and Hackus).
If your child likes playhouses there are two Mushroom House Play Sets (Papa Smurf or Smurfettes home) that contain a smurf character figure and play accessories to go in the house.
For Smurfette fans there is now a 7.5″ Fashion Doll with mix and match outfits that ‘snap’ on. She even has a special smurfberry scent.
It was a fun day out and a film that I know my girls would love to watch again.
We were not paid to write this review but were given free tickets to the cinema for the family and the girls received one of the 2.75″ collectible figures each.
